It has been my privilege and “Calling” to have taught at Lighthouse Christian Academy since the Spring of 1997. There were six Kindergarten students in a basement storage room of a local church in need of a teacher. At that time there were only thirty-two students enrolled in Lighthouse. There was no acting principal. The LCA Board hired and oversaw the running of the school from afar. I have taught Kindergarten, First grade and split 1st/2nd grades over the past twenty-two years. I graduated with a BS degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Mercy/Detroit. I took graduate classes from IUS and Indiana Wesleyan University. I have taught in four Public school districts and two Christian schools . When I teach, I am teaching with Eternity in mind. When I taught for the public schools we cared for our student’s minds, but at Lighthouse we more importantly care for our student’s souls. We have many opportunities to plant “ seeds “ for the gospel of Jesus Christ. When I was eleven this verse from the book of Matthew “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.” made me realize that the stories my mother read to me from the Bible were Bible truths. That verse started me on my walk of Faith. I realized Jesus was alive and active in my life. My future goals are in God’s hands. Where He leads, I will follow. My husband, Joe and I are blessed with four very confident daughters, three son- in- laws and four young grandchildren, all of whom we love very much.
