School Resource Officer (SRO)

*Overview*
Lighthouse Christian Academy seeks a Christ-centered, relational, and mission-aligned School Resource Officer (SRO) to serve as a visible presence for student safety, campus security, and community partnership. The SRO plays a vital role in protecting the physical well-being of students and staff while supporting the spiritual and emotional development of the LCA community.

*Responsibilities and Duties*
-Maintain a daily physical presence across the LCA campus, especially during arrivals, dismissals, lunch, recess, and school events.
-Monitor entrances, exits, parking lots, and perimeters to ensure a secure and welcoming environment.
-Respond promptly to emergencies, threats, and other safety concerns.
-Coordinate lockdown, fire, and emergency preparedness drills in partnership with school leadership.
-Serve as the primary liaison between LCA and local law enforcement agencies.
-Stay current on applicable state and local laws affecting school safety.
-Assist with threat assessments, security planning, and safety protocol development.
-Provide safety and situational awareness training for staff and students.
-Help lead professional development on threat recognition, de-escalation, and emergency response.
-Support conflict resolution strategies aligned with LCA’s biblical values.

-Current certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Indiana (or eligible for a Memorandum of Understanding with local law enforcement that grants active arrest powers while serving in the SRO role).
-Active arrest powers maintained through a law enforcement agency or applicable jurisdiction.
-Prior experience in law enforcement or military service, with preference given to those trained in school safety or SRO roles.
-Demonstrated ability to work with children and adolescents in a Christ-centered educational environment.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to be both authoritative and compassionate.
-Agreement with Lighthouse Christian Academy’s Statement of Faith and Biblical Lifestyle Commitment.
