Description
The Part-Time High School Art Teacher inspires students to develop their God-given creativity through instruction in a variety of visual art disciplines while cultivating an appreciation for beauty, craftsmanship, and artistic expression. The teacher will provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction, foster a positive classroom environment, and encourage students to use their gifts in ways that honor God.

This is a one-year appointment for the 2026–2027 school year with the potential for continued employment based upon future staffing needs, organizational structure, and performance.

Essential Responsibilities

1) Develop engaging lessons across a variety of visual art disciplines, including two-dimensional and three-dimensional media.

2) Instruct students in techniques such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, design, and other appropriate visual arts.

3) Foster creativity, craftsmanship, critical thinking, and artistic growth in each student.

4) Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped art classroom and responsibly manage materials and supplies.

5) Assess student learning and provide timely feedback, grading, and communication with students and families.

6) Display and celebrate student artwork throughout the school year.

7) Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, chapels, and other school activities as appropriate.

8) Model Christlike character and actively support the mission and vision of Lighthouse Christian Academy.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should:

1) Demonstrate a growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ.

2) Be actively involved in the life of a local Bible-believing church.

3) Wholeheartedly affirm and support Lighthouse Christian Academy's Statement of Faith.

4) Demonstrate competency across a variety of visual art disciplines and the ability to teach multiple media, including two-dimensional and three-dimensional art.

5) Hold a bachelor's degree (Art, Art Education, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred).

6) Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

7) Teaching experience, art instruction experience, and Indiana teaching licensure are preferred but not required.
