Teacher: Pre-K (2027-28)

Title
Teacher: Pre-K (2027-28)
Description
Lighthouse Christian Academy is seeking a joyful, mature, and highly capable educator to lead our Pre-K program beginning with the 2027–28 school year.

The LCA Pre-K program is an important entry point into the life and culture of our school. Our Pre-K teacher does much more than prepare children academically for kindergarten. This teacher creates a classroom in which young children are known, loved, challenged, and consistently pointed toward Christ while building strong partnerships with their families.

We are seeking someone who combines a genuine love for young children with initiative, organization, excellent communication, and the ability to take ownership of a thriving early education program. The ideal candidate will create a classroom characterized by both grace and high expectations and will view teaching young children and serving their families as meaningful Christian ministry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Pre-K Teacher will:
-Create a warm, joyful, Christ-centered classroom environment in which students are known, loved, and challenged to grow.
-Provide developmentally appropriate instruction that prepares students academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually for kindergarten.
-Plan and implement engaging learning experiences that promote early literacy, numeracy, language development, creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving.
-Intentionally incorporate biblical truth and a Christian worldview throughout the rhythms of the school day.
-Establish clear classroom routines, expectations, and age-appropriate approaches to student behavior and discipline.
-Develop strong, trusting relationships with students and cultivate a classroom community characterized by grace, joy, respect, and high expectations.
-Build meaningful partnerships with parents through proactive, gracious, and professional communication.
-Help families understand their child's growth, needs, strengths, and readiness for kindergarten.
-Plan and manage the day-to-day operation of the Pre-K classroom with a high degree of ownership and self-sufficiency.
-Maintain an organized, safe, attractive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
-Assess and document student growth and communicate progress effectively with parents and school leadership.
-Collaborate with elementary teachers and administration to ensure continuity between Pre-K, kindergarten, and the broader LCA academic program.
-Participate fully in the spiritual, professional, and community life of Lighthouse Christian Academy.
-Perform other responsibilities consistent with the role and mission of LCA.

TRANSITION OPPORTUNITY
Because LCA is planning proactively for this transition, our preferred candidate may have the opportunity to begin working alongside our current Pre-K teacher during the second semester of the 2026–27 school year. This intentional transition would allow the incoming teacher to learn the rhythms, curriculum, traditions, parent communication, and day-to-day operation of the program before assuming full leadership in 2027–28.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will:

-Demonstrates a mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and active involvement in a local Bible-believing church.
-Aligns with LCA’s Statement of Faith, mission, and philosophy of Christian education.
-Holds a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
-Has experience working with young children; classroom teaching experience is strongly preferred.
-Demonstrates a strong understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate instruction.
-Possesses the initiative, organization, reliability, and judgment necessary to independently lead and manage the Pre-K program.
-Communicates exceptionally well and is capable of developing strong partnerships with parents.
-Demonstrates warmth, patience, joy, humility, and teachability while maintaining clear expectations and appropriate boundaries.
-Meets all LCA employment and background-check requirements.
